Gleaned from the Parisian art catalog, 'Société des Artistes Français et Société Nationale des Beaux-Art - Salon de 1892', here are four engravings featuring fabulous Parisian artist studios captured as Victorian was winding down and the Belle Époque was soon to come.
Four artists are here, with each artist captured in his studio, along with a peek at their latest works in progress -
Pierre Puvis de Chavannes
The Société was the association of French painters and sculptors and the Salon, or 'Salon de Paris', began in 1725 was the official art exhibition of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France. Between 1748-1895 it was the greatest annual or biannual art event in the Western world.
The engravings are on a nicely heavy card, with French text on their reverse, and the engravings are in tones of black, white, tan, and sepia. The engraved detailing is gorgeous and there is a lovely broad framing border surrounding each engraving.
Each of the papers measures approximately 6" x 7" (15x18 cm) and each image measures approximately 4" x 5" (10x13 cm). Some tanning and light foxing can be seen along the margins. There are no folds, tears, marks, or creases.
Use for your art, for your Art History class, to fill a lovely Victorian frame - these are splendid, unique images! I will include a copy of the Title Page with your purchase.
You are purchasing 4 original 1892 engravings and they do not have watermarks. I will send these to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.
