Product Description

Here is a lovely Victorian chromolithograph from Edward Hulme gleaned from his 1882 English botanical reference and featuring the deadly -

Ivy Geranium [Pelargonium peltatum]

Geranium is a genus of 422 species of flowering annual, biennial, and perennial plants. They are found throughout the temperate regions of the world and the mountains of the tropics. The long, palmately cleft leaves are broadly circular in form. The flowers have five petals and are colored white, pink, purple or blue, often with distinctive veining. And, as I can attest, geraniums will grow in any well-draining soil with minimum care.

Frederick Edward Hulme (English botanist/artist; 1843-1930) was known as a teacher, artist, and amateur botanist. He was the Professor of Freehand and Geometrical Drawing at King's College, London from 1886. His most famous work was a magnificent nine-volume set on wildflowers.

The heavy paper is blank on its reverse, measures 5" x 7.5" (13x20 cm), and is smooth and shows little tanning. The paper is clean and smooth, the colors are vivid and clear, the corners are sharp, and there are no tears, marks, creases, or folds.

This is a gorgeous study to frame and gift for your favorite garden lover, fantastic to use in your art - card and tag creations, collage, scrap-book page making.

You are purchasing an original 1882 paper and it does not have watermarks. I will send this to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.
