From the Paris Salon, a stunning, cheerful engraving by French painter Pierre Carrier-Belleuse, 'Arlequine' (Harlequin, portrait of Madam B), gleaned from the 1892 catalog of the Société des Artistes Français et Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
According to their catalog, the main task of the Société, which had begun in 1880, was to organize the Salon, since the French government had ceased to officially perform this function.
The engraving is titled, on heavy card, and is blank on the reverse. The card measures 8.25" x 12.25" (21x31 cm) and the image measures 4.25" x 7.5" (11x19 cm). The edges are smooth and clear and there are no marks, folds, creases, or tears.
The engraving marks are clearly seen on the card and the paper's margins show some tanning, with foxing seen along the outer edges. This is lovely engraving to frame for your home or perhaps you'll use in your art.
You are purchasing an original 1892 paper and it does not have watermarks. I will send this to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.
