Product Description

From the 1839 Victorian works of Sir William Jardine on Ornithology featuring gallinaceous birds, here is the Naturalist Library Vol. 14 gorgeous title page featuring ... Chickens!!

Here at Le Petit Poulailler, we particularly love when we come across chicken-ie things and we are really loving this find featuring -

Black Headed Tragopan [Tragopan melanocephalus]

Here is a beautiful hand-colored natural history engraving gleaned from Jardine's ornithology and gallinaceous birds natural history reference.

And yes, I had to look it up, too ... 'gallinaceous' means 'heavy-bodied ground-feeding domestic or game birds'. ... hey! that sounds like 'Chickens'! The paper is finely etched and published by William H. Lizars of Edinburgh.

The heavy paper is blank on its reverse, measures 4.25" x 6.5" (10x17 cm), and shows gentle all over tanning. The paper is smooth and clean, the paper edges are clear and unmarked, with the corner tips only just softened. The hand coloring is bright and vivid and exact and there are no tears, folds, creases, or marks.

A beautiful subject to frame for your home decor or perhaps you'll use in your art - ideal for your card and tag creations, for decoupage, for collage, keep in that growing scrap book paper stash you love.

You are purchasing an original 1839 paper and it does not have watermarks. I will send this to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.
