Oh, my most favorite story from childhood! Wind in the Willows!
A universal, gentle storybook favorite, here is an illustration from a cover-less 1937 copy of Kenneth Grahame's timeless classic, beautifully illustrated by Arthur Rackham.
This lithograph features Ratty walking along with the picnic wagon, Toad and Mole walking behind, and is captioned -
'It was a golden afternoon; the smell of the dust they kicked up was rich and satisfying'
Arthur Rackham is widely regarded as one of the leading illustrators from the 'Golden Age' of British book illustration which encompassed the years from 1900 until the start of the First World War. During that period, there was a strong market for high quality illustrated books that typically were given as Christmas gifts.
The paper shows light margin tanning and the edges are smooth and clear. The paper is clean and smooth and Arthur Rackham's illustration is wonderful - enormously frame-worthy. The heavy paper is blank on its reverse and there are no tears, folds, creases, or marks.
The paper measures 6.125" x 8.25" (15.6x21 cm) and shows only gentle all-over tanning. Perfect for card and tag creations, scrap-book page making, collage. A wonderful image to frame and gift for the new baby's room or your young reader's corner.
You are purchasing an original 1937 paper and it does not have watermarks. I will send this to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.
