Wonderful, fun Edwardian fashions!
From Hugh Thomson, here is a gorgeous tipped-in Edwardian lithograph, gleaned from a discarded 1st edition of James M. Barrie's "Quality Street - A Comedy in Four Acts".
Barrie penned "Quality Street" a decade before 'Peter Pan' and Quality Street's story of two sisters opening a school for genteel children is a tale of Edwardian style and social fashion. The illustrations by Irish artist Hugh Thomson are perfect, reflecting the beauty and elegance of the era.
The lithograph is tipped onto card and both are blank on their reverse. Both the lithograph and the card are protected by an engraved paper cover with the captioning -
"Miss Phoebe is giving a dancing lesson to half a dozen pupils, and is doing her very best." Page 49
The tipped-in lithograph measures 6.5" x 4.25" (17x11 cm) and the card measures 4.75" x 6.875" (12x18 cm) and neither shows tanning. The papers are clean and without tears, folds, marks, or creases. Such a lovely image to frame ... and perfect for card and tag creations, for scrap-book page making, collage.
You are purchasing original 1901 papers and they do not have watermarks. I will send these to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.
